Generating new file xlsx with Hyperlink column

Hello.

I want to create an excel file based on a template.

NOTE: I will scramble initial https part in all links below so they are not counted as links

One of the columns should be a link to an image which is stored on Google Drive but not within the app.

My main table has a Text column [Picture_Published_URL] containing the URL with this format:

hhtttps://drive.google.com/file/d//view?usp=drive_link

I tried inserting this into the xlsx template in multiple ways:

  1. Filling the template with this formula: =HYPERLINK(“<<[BB ID].[Picture_Published_URL]>>”,“View Photo”). This gave an empty result in the generated file.

  2. I followed a suggestion in the community by previous Googler Phil, by adding a LongText virtual column [Picture_URL_Link] and set the formula to:
    IF(
    ISBLANK([Picture_Published_URL]),
    “”,
    HYPERLINK(
    CONCATENATE(
    “hhtttps://www.appsheet.com/template/gettablefileurl?appName=-&tableName=Billboards&resizeImage=true&imageWidth=600&fileName=”,
    TEXT([Picture_Published_URL])
    ),
    ‘My Photo Link’
    )
    )

    And placed <<[BB ID].[Picture_URL_Link]>> in the template.
    This resulted in TEXT being placed in the generated file, not a URL
    hhtttps://www.appsheet.com/template/gettablefileurl?appName=&tableName=Billboards&resizeImage=true&imageWidth=600&fileName=hhtttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1ISQGnNjCjReq-IckKRTqEjwPed_Tpjh7/view?usp=drive_link
    It wasn’t a link anyway…

  3. Replaced the formula in the virtual column to be:
    IF(
    ISBLANK([Picture_Published_URL]),
    “”,
    CONCATENATE(
    ‘=HYPERLINK("’,
    [Picture_Published_URL],
    ‘", "’,
    “View Photo”,
    ‘")’
    )

    This gave TEXT again in the generated fiile:
    =HYPERLINK(“hhtttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1ISQGnNjCjReq-IckKRTqEjwPed_Tpjh7/view?usp=drive_link”, “View Photo”)
    So the formula is correct, but it’s not showing as a formula.

    How to resolve this?

Please help…

Hello @Excelrati

I see some typos in the URL,

  • It should be “https://…” instead of “hhtttps://…”
  • You are using Smart Quotes which cause a syntax error
    “hhtttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1ISQGnNjCjReq-IckKRTqEjwPed_Tpjh7/view?usp=drive_link”, “View Photo”

I hope it helps!

The following was mentioned, I don’t think that is the issue…
