I am experiencing a persistent quota issue with Gemini Code Assist in VS Code.
Context:
I am a subscriber to Google One AI Pro, and I recently reached my usage limit for the month.
To continue working without interruption, I subscribed to the Google Developer Program Premium to benefit from the Gemini Code Assist Standard license.
I have created a dedicated project in the Google Cloud Console and enabled the “Gemini for Google Cloud API”.
The Problem: Even though I have selected the correct Google Cloud Project in the VS Code status bar, the extension still reports that my quota is exhausted. It seems the extension is still “stuck” on my personal Google One quota instead of switching to the newly purchased Developer Program quota.
Troubleshooting steps already taken:
Verified that the “Google Developer Program Premium” badge is active on my profile.
Enabled the Gemini API on the selected project.
Signed out and signed back into Google account in VS Code.
Restarted VS Code multiple times.
Question: Is there a specific step required to “link” the Developer Program license to the Cloud Project, or a way to force VS Code to prioritize the Standard license over the personal Google One quota?
I am looking for help regarding my Gemini integration in Android Studio. Despite having an active Google Developer Program Premium subscription (via Google One AI Pro), my IDE seems stuck in the “No-Cost Tier” (Tier 1).
The main issue: The Gemini chat window shows the “No-Cost Tier” label, and I cannot see the “Google Cloud Project” selection in the model selector—only “Default” and “Google AI Studio” are available.
What I have verified so far:
Cloud Console: The “Gemini for Google Cloud API” is enabled and showing 200 OK responses.
IAM: My account has Owner and Gemini for Google Cloud User roles.
Billing: Active with sufficient credits.
IDE Settings: In Settings > Tools > Google Accounts, the refresh button is greyed out. I also cannot find a field to manually enter a Project ID under Settings > Tools > AI.
Steps taken: I’ve already tried re-logging, clearing IDE caches (Invalidate Caches), and verified the Service Usage API. It feels like the IDE is defaulting to my personal quota instead of recognizing the Developer Program license.
Has anyone encountered this “missing project selection” or found a way to force the Cloud Project link when the UI options are missing?
