GCS scheduled deliveries failing - "Your default credentials were not found" (ADC)

Hi all,

Since around 1 July, all of our scheduled deliveries to Google Cloud Storage have been failing. Email, S3 and SFTP deliveries all still work fine, only GCS is affected.

Environment:

  • Looker (original), hosted
  • Version 26.12
  • Delivery target: Google Cloud Storage action

The scheduled jobs fail with:

ahaclient delivery failed for google_cloud_storage scheduled_job : Your default credentials were not found. To set up Application Default Credentials for your environment, see https://cloud.google.com/docs/authentication/external/set-up-adc.

What we’ve tried:

  • Set up Application Default Credentials (ADC) following Google’s docs
  • Ran gcloud auth login --update-adc
  • Confirmed the destination bucket and credentials on our side

None of it resolved the ADC error, and GCS delivery is still completely down.

Support has been contacted but the root cause is still open.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Maybe even found a resolution?

On July 20th 2026, Looker Engineering Team responded with a root cause analysis:

This error is occurring because there was a change that triggered the system to believe that users have Application Default Credentials. When a customer does not have ADC the execution fails. The engineering team has rectified the incorrect modifications and have rolled the fix.

Today, July 29th 2026, Looker Support informed me that:

The Engineering team is planning to rollout the fix in bulk for all the customer.

We are currently awaiting a response from the engineering team.

Today, July 30th 2026, Looker Support informed me that:

The fix is now available in the 26.12.10 version.
