Hey everyone,
I’m thrilled to share that on June 14, 2025, I cleared the Professional Cloud Database Engineer Certification (Updated version from June 2025)—and I was among the very first batch to attempt the updated exam! Juggling architecture design, client deliveries, and leadership duties made preparation tricky, but focusing my prep paid off.
I’ve summarized my strategy, real-world resources, and tips in this Medium article: How I Passed the Google Cloud Professional Database Engineer Certification (Recent Edition June 2025)
Here are a few highlights from my prep:
-
Focused on the official GCP Skill Boost Learning Path and a full-length Udemy practice test that closely simulates the actual exam
-
Studied the updated v1.2 exam guide, especially topics like design of scalable/HA solutions, database selection (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, Spanner, etc.), connectivity & security (Cloud SQL Auth Proxy, IAM, encryption…), and multi-database management and then full length Udemy practice to ensure 100% prep.
If you’re looking to level up in cloud database architecture or prepping for this exam, I hope this helps! Would love to hear how others are approaching the updated certification—or what study shortcuts you’ve tried.
