Does your app require users to sign-in? If no, there’s no safe way to differentiate users that won’t also allow users to see each other’s data.
Are the students minors? I don’t believe AppSheet apps can be shared with minors. I recommend you look into it. @Jose_Arteaga might also have some insight to share on this.
Hi Steve,
Yes, it requires sign in.
I think I’m not far from making it work but its the final bits i’m having trouble with.
The students are aged 11 years to 18 years.
Since you are using login, you can use USEREMAIL() to get the email address of the signed-in user. You can then compare that against a list of coaches’ emails to differentiate between coaches and students.
Thanks @Steve !
Maybe it is also time consuming but you can add a column that specifies whether it is a student, a teacher, etc., especially thinking you might want to scale it in the future.
Dirk,
I have built an app that users log in and only see their data. I did the filter in the security tables.
But in pro type mode you can only have 10 users. In development mode you have to pay Appsheets per user log in.
That is why I asked how it was going to work for you with 200 users. I haven’t deployed my app on the apple store yet because of the cost.
Hi APN,
Sorry for the delay.
The users of the app are students at a school. I believe they have an AppSheet Core license as part of their education package. Would this work??
Thanks
Phil
I don’t see why not. Lots of flexibility with core.
