Hi everyone,
Google Sites is an incredibly accessible and efficient tool for building web pages, but it is currently missing a massive opportunity: native AI capabilities. While Gemini is transforming how we use Docs, Sheets, and Gmail, the Sites editor remains entirely manual.
The Idea: Introduce a Gemini side-panel or inline assistant directly within the Google Sites editor to help users build, design, and manage their sites faster.
Proposed Features & Use Cases:
-
Smart Layout Generation: Users could describe a layout (e.g., “Create a product landing page with a hero image, three feature columns, and a footer”) and Gemini would automatically generate the block structure.
-
Content Drafting & Refining: Ability to draft “About Us” sections, generate catchy headlines, or adjust the tone of existing text directly on the canvas without switching tabs.
-
Custom Code Assistant: An option for Gemini to write and insert custom HTML/CSS/JavaScript for the “Embed” widget, allowing users to add advanced interactive elements effortlessly.
-
Theme & Styling Suggestions: Ask Gemini for color palette and font pairing recommendations tailored to the site’s specific topic or industry.
The Impact: Bringing Gemini to Sites would dramatically lower the barrier to entry for creating professional web pages. It aligns perfectly with the “Help me write / Help me organize” philosophy already present across Google Workspace and would save creators hours of manual design time.
I am super passionate about this idea and would be absolutely thrilled to beta-test it if it gets picked up. If this concept makes it to the official product roadmap, I would be incredibly honored to get a community shoutout or a mention in the project release notes as the original requester!
Thanks for considering,
