I am new to AppSheet and I’m excited at the possibilities available in creating solutions for businesses through AppSheet’s no coding platform.
When handling thousands of items, SKUs in an inventory, FUZZY SEARCH is a great enabler and UNFORTUNATELY that functionality is missing in AppSheet! I am open to stand corrected if that feature is enabled but from my little research its not build in yet.
Could someone from the AppSheet team share if its possible for users to request this very very powerful and most iconic Google feature to be made available in AppSheet?
Thanks much for developing this wonderful platform for the benefit of small businesses and entrepreneurs!
First, “Feature Ideas” posts should be inserted within the “Feature Ideas” section you see at the top of this page. You want to search first for a similar post and vote it up if it exists then add any additional details that fits your idea. If none seem to exist then add you own. Adding your when other similar ideas exist, runs the risk of BOTH ideas vote count being diluted and neither will get attention from AppSheet.
Second, “FUZZY SEARCH” is ambiguous and can mean different things in different contexts. You should elaborate with an example.
Actually, I believe that the current AppSearch search DOES support a “Fuzzy Search” concept. When you are in a table view and use the Search feature, any value you type is used to identify any row that has a column that CONTAINS that value. For instance, if I have a row with a column value of “123456789” and I type into the search “567” - that column matches the search and the ROW is displayed in the filtered view.
NOTE: Columns must be set as “Searchable” and each column is searched regardless if it is shown or not. This can lead to confusing results when a row is included but the column is not present in the view.
