Dear Apigee team,
I am writing to propose an enhancement to the API product management capabilities in the Apigee UI.
As a user in a non-developer role, I am able to set quota via API product UI by following the instruction Managing API products | Apigee | Google Cloud
However I cannot reset quota via API product UI. To perform a reset, I must rely on developer to implement a flow with `ResetQuota` policy.
Adding a “Reset Quota” feature directly into the API product UI would significantly improve the workflow for administrative users. It would empower us to fully manage API product lifecycles, especially during testing and troubleshooting, without needing technical intervention.
I believe this feature would be a valuable addition for many of your customers.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hey @Jinpeng_Wu,
Thanks so much for being apart of the Apigee Forum on the Google Developer Community. Great suggestion - thanks for being so detailed about the use-case and how this would help you improve your experience with Apigee.
I’ve shared this with our product team to investigate if there’s an existing solution, a potential workaround, or if this is a planned enhancement. I also invite any of my Googler colleagues to jump on the thread and share their insights.
Cheers,
Roderick

Thanks Roderick for the referral.
I have a question about the use case. Do we think this makes sense as something you’d do in the normal UI or something we could add to the portal? I’m inclined think it’s portal related as resetting a quota feels like something one does as part of distribution.
Thanks,

Hi Roderick & gsjurseth,
Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it.
My understanding of developer portal is that it’s for the consumers, not providers. In our case, we provide trial product for our consumers, when a consumer’s trial quota runs out, we want to be the ones who can grant them a reset, rather than having them do it themselves.
The way we handle this now is by creating a new credential (clientId & clientSecret) under the same app and attaching the trial product again. So, we’re not actually resetting the quota, just creating a new one.
It would be a significant improvement to have a simple “reset quota” button in the normal UI. It would save us the manual effort of creating new credentials and, crucially, would mean our consumers don’t have to go through the hassle of changing the credentials in their code.
Sorry, I was suggesting that there be a way to do this either in the portal or in cloud console in the portals section as an admin. We wouldn’t want to enable this for the actual API consuming developers of course.

Hi gsjurseth,
Thanks for your explanation.
Sadly, we’re not using developer portal for our consumers, so a quota reset feature in the main Apigee UI would be far more impactful for our team.
But it’s just one man’s opinion. I totally understand your point and respect that.
Maybe this is something the Apigee product team could get wider feedback on? A quick poll or survey might help them prioritize.
Hi,
I am actually a PM so I’ll take this into consideration for our next prio-session.
Thanks,
