I love Google Workspace, but not having the ability to apply basic org-level or user-level deletion settings for Gemini chats is a deal breaker. This issue is extremely frustrating, and I won’t consider using Gemini as my primary AI service until the chat deletion functionality is added to Google Workspace accounts. Claude for the win!
With Gemini now supporting retention rules in Google Vault, I hope the major ‘compliance blocker’ preventing user-level deletion controls should be resolved. 
Because Vault can now handle retention and legal holds on the backend, Google finally has the foundation to implement the admin and user controls needed to clean up the cluttered sidebar. 
Right today, a temporary chat option appears in the gemini chat interface in my google workspace account, and it’s working.
