Hello, community.
-I’d like to share an issue I’m experiencing with AppSheet. Currently, I have several applications that I’ve been working on personally, and for now, I am the only user. I’m familiar with AppSheet’s plans and the features available in the free version. I also know that my applications can be used by up to 10 people in prototype mode.
-The problem started when I tried to make one of my applications public by disabling the Require user sign-in? option. Later, when I reactivated it, all the affected applications started displaying the following message:
Network error. Please check connectivity and try again.
-While researching in this forum, I found that several people have encountered the same message for different reasons. To rule out possible causes, I checked my internet connection, restarted my devices and laptop, but the issue persists. I also reviewed the formulas within the applications, but that doesn’t seem to be the cause either.
-The issue appears to be related to switching from Require user sign-in to Public access. After modifying this setting in several applications, now all of them are experiencing the same problem.
-Has anyone encountered a similar issue or knows how to fix it? I’d really appreciate any help.
@Steve
What happens when you turn off the “Require user sign-in?” setting?
When you get the Network error message, it most likely refers to the inability of your app on that device to communicate with the AppSheet servers. I have only experienced this in my apps when there was no connection or limited connection.
First, check that you have the most up to date version of the AppSheet container app - the app named “AppSheet” that runs on your device. I have found that my device does not automatically update the app. The current version is 16.5
Second, triple check the Internet settings and that the connection is strong. Also, check the device settings for the AppSheet app itself. There is a “Cellular Data” setting (at least on iPhone) that if turned off will only allow the app to run if connected to WiFi.
If all that checks out, try running the app from a Desktop computer that has a known good internet connection. This should confirm if it is an app issue or a device issue.
If all the above provides no solution then I would recommend contacting Appsheet Support for additional help. In the AppSheet editor there is a “Support” menu option in the “3 dot” menu in the upper right-hand corner.
I hope this helps!
I got this error a few times recently. I couldn’t find the cause. I completely cleared Chrome, and it was fixed.
