Email Automations Blocked After App Transfer to Workspace

Hi everyone and AppSheet Team,

I am facing an issue with the new email automation policy that rolled out on May 4th, 2026, and I believe my app is being incorrectly restricted. I wanted to share this here to see if anyone else is experiencing the same after an ownership transfer, or if a moderator can help me escalate this.

Here is the timeline of my app:

  • January 2025: The application was originally created.

  • April 2026: I transferred the ownership of the app to a Google Workspace account.

  • May 2026: The new “Sending out of domain email from automations not supported” policy took effect, and my email bots completely stopped working.

According to the official announcement, any account or Workspace organization created before May 4th, 2026, should be automatically exempt from this restriction. Since both the app creation (Jan 2025) and the transfer (April 2026) happened well before the deadline, this app should be grandfathered in.

It seems the ownership transfer might have broken the exemption logic system-side, flags it as a “new” setup, and triggered the domain block.

Has anyone else faced this issue after transferring an app recently?

We managed to remove this restriction with the help of engineering team by creating an Exemption request
