Dynamic Update of Filters

Dear Looker Forum Community,

I hope this message finds you all well. I’m reaching out with a query regarding the dynamic updation of the filters that you apply in the dashboard.
So there is one dashboard that has 1 filter and if we select any value from the filter, we have to manually select the update button to make the filter applicable to the dashboard.
Can you please let me know if there is a possible way to dynamically update the dashboard based on the filter you select without manually selecting the update button.
Any documentation, tutorials, or real-world examples you can share would be immensely valuable to us. Thank you in advance for your assistance, and we look forward to your guidance and recommendations.

Hi there!

Great question. When a filter is applied to a dashboard we would not expect that filter to impact the dashboard unless the update button is selected. A new query should only be run when the update button is selected, and this is to make sure that you are only ever running, and paying for, the queries you explicitly choose to run.

Please let me know if you have any questions on this or anything else!
