Dynamic SVGs in HTML LongText columns No longer working?

Curious if any others have seen Dynamic SVGs embedded in HTML LongText columns stop working out of nowhere today? The images are simply no longer displaying across multiple apps.

Dynamic SVGs inside Image type columns do still seem to work at this point.

@Jose_Arteaga

Some additional information… it appears to not be specific to Dynamic SVGs in HTML LongText, but more so those SVGs that include <style> tags. Inline styling still seems to work, but the appsheet parser now seems to be not rendering anything that has a tag inside it. This previously had been working just fine. This has completely broken multiple of our apps.

Tagging a few of the others on here that I know are using dynamic SVGs to see what they are experiencing. @Rifad @Suvrutt_Gurjar @Kirk_Masden

Thanks @aneville ! In my app, I’ve been putting SVG images into image columns so this hasn’t become a problem for me. On the other hand, I use HTML in my app to display images and animated GIFs in LongText and so I might want to use SVG images there too at some point.

Thanks for calling our attention to the matter. I hope it gets resolved soon.

P.S. In regard to the <style> tags, I appreciate the heads up. I’ll be sure to avoid those.

Hola, en mi aplicacion hoy 29-09-26 estoy teniendo problemas con mis SVG, no se muestran! pensaba que era un error mio de programacion, pero vi que hay fallo

Its definitely an unannounced change on the Google/Appsheet side. We had been using this successfully for at least a couple of years. To clarify what works and doesn’t for others who stumble upon this:

This used to work (for displaying Dynamic SVGs in HTML LongText fields):

CONCATENATE('<img src="',"data:image/svg+xml;utf8,
	<svg width='500px' height='20px' xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'>
	<style>
	.red-ul{fill:red;text-decoration:underline;font-size:.8em;}
	</style>
  	<text x='0%' y='50%' class='red-ul'>Some text</text>
  	<text x='25%' y='50%' class='red-ul'>Some more text</text>
	<text x='50%' y='50%' class='red-ul'>Even more text</text>
	<text x='75%' y='50%' class='red-ul'>More more text</text>
</svg>",
'">')

This was obviously super useful in complex SVGs in setting/updating/maintaining consistent styles. But starting yesterday (or the weekend), Appsheet started no longer displaying anything with <style> tags. It just rips the entire SVG out and displays nothing.

But what DOES still work is inline styling like this:

CONCATENATE('<img src="',"data:image/svg+xml;utf8,
	<svg width='500px' height='20px' xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'>
  	<text x='0%' y='50%' style='fill:red;text-decoration:underline;font-size:.8em;'>Some text</text>
  	<text x='25%' y='50%' style='fill:red;text-decoration:underline;font-size:.8em;'>Some more text</text>
  	<text x='50%' y='50%' style='fill:red;text-decoration:underline;font-size:.8em;'>Even more text</text>
  	<text x='75%' y='50%' style='fill:red;text-decoration:underline;font-size:.8em;'>More more text</text>
</svg>",
'">')

If you haven’t already done so, please contact Support to report this bug.

Planning to @Steve , if nothing else to say that I did. Unfortunately had to spend all my time yesterday rewriting our apps so they would actually be useable. As you know better than almost anyone on here…

  1. based on past experience I have very little hope that support will be of any help or Ill even be able to get it to a level that anyone will even understand what Im saying

  2. even if they fix it, I have no belief it would be on an acceptable timeline that I could just wait for them
