Date Range Filter not applying but cross-filtering changes the date range

Hi all,

I have connected a simple data source (via funnel.io) with one column holding a date.

I can create a line chart showing me the row count for a certain time period and the data is correct which leads me to the conclusion, that the date column is read correctly and can be used in charts (in the resource tab, it also shows up and is recognized as a date).

However, when I create a simple scorecard diagram, the date range filter doesn’t seem to apply. It doesn’t matter if I change the timeframe in a filter element or directly in the date range picker in the scorecard. I also don’t have the option to select a date as a dimension in the scorecard diagram for some reason.

Now it gets really interesting (at least for me): When I cross filter a specific day using my line chart with the same data source, the scorecard also changes to the correct value, which again shows me that the date dimension works fine. It just doesn’t work with the actual date range filters or picker.

Does anybody have an idea, what might cause this problem?

Thank you and best regards
Colin

Hi @colinwitt , thanks for your post!

For scorecard charts, the Date range dimension field will appear if your data source has a valid date date dimension (per the Scorecard chart documentation). If you do set a date range for an individual chart, it overrides any input from the date range control (per the Date range control scope section on the Date range control documentation page).

I wonder if you could try setting the date dimension that the scorecard responds to as the Date range dimension for the entire report or page. The Set report date ranges documentation page provides instructions for how to set that up.

I hope that is helpful!

Hey Colin,

Did you ever find a solution to this - I’m having the exact same problem, and the solution comment didn’t seem to help.

Thanks

I repeatedly have this problem but others aren’t able to recreate it. One workaround that works most of the time for me is to delete the date control range. Then re-add it and make it report level. Refresh the browser. Be sure in the properties > setup tab that the date is the range you want. Be sure in File > report settings that your date range there is the same. Good luck.

I had this issue too and have found that I needed to explicitly specify the Date field in the Report Settings “Date range dimension” for every data source.

Im not sure if it matters but I did this after creating the Report-level date range controller.
