Daily views for a specific date changes based on date range selected as a control

Hi all, I’m experiencing a strange issue and I haven’t be able to determine what the issue is.

I have a GA4 property associated with our website. I’ve created a Looker Studio dashboard for a specific page on our website and I’m looking at daily visitation on the 25th of January. When I set the date range 23rd Jan to 28th Jan, the views on 25th Jan show as 856. When I change the range to 1st Jan - 28th Jan the views on 25th Jan show as 682.

Given that I’m looking at daily views for the same date in both date ranges, why is it different?

If I create an exploration in Google Analytics directly, it shows the daily views on 25th January as 856 no matter what date range I select.

Does anyone have ideas on why this might be happening or how I can fix it? I’ve tried re-adding the datasource but I’m having the same issue with both.

Thanks!

Hi Meagan,

Firstly you need to check what is the actual number been displayed in GA4 so that you know what is the actual number that needs to be displayed on the dashboard
You can also try once reconnecting the data I mean you need to delete the data source and create the same again

Hi Karan,

The correct stat for the 25th is 856, if I select that date only, or a small date range around that date the data is correct, but as soon as I lengthen the date range it starts to mess up. I’ve just tried removing the data source and re-adding it and re-creating it to the dashbaord and I’m still seeing the incorrect data. The other new issue is that my line graph and table are now not even matching, even though it has the same data source and filters. I even tried duplicating the table to ensure the settings were all the same and then changed it to a line graph and the data isn’t matching there either.

I also checked other pages on the website across multiple dashboards and it appears to be happening on all pages on all dashboards.

Thanks,
Meagan
