We recently had our CUDs automatically migrated from the legacy model to the new FEE_UTILIZATION model on our billing account (PII Removed by Staff), and noticed the commitment rates changed dramatically:
- CUD 20240718 (3-year): $10/hr → $5.4/hr (-46%)
- CUD 20250702 (1-year): $10/hr → $7.2/hr (-28%)
- CUD 20250905 (1-year): $10/hr → $7.2/hr (-28%)
Our usage hasn’t changed, but the numbers are very different from what we originally committed to. This seems to contradict Google’s own documentation ( Verify spend-based CUD savings after migration | Get started | Google Cloud Documentation )
which states “your total cost won’t increase as long as your usage remains the same.”
We’ve raised this through our reseller and billing support but haven’t gotten a clear answer yet.
Has anyone else seen similar changes after the migration? Would love to hear how others are dealing with this.
