CSV File Upload - Datasets list is incomplete

Problem

After navigating to the CSV File Upload page for a data source, the list of Datasets is incomplete. I see only my most recent dataset but none of my older datasets. If I then add a new dataset, the older one drops from the list, and only the new one is shown. I first noticed the problem on 2026-08-24 (it could have been introduced in the two weeks prior), and it has persisted.

Expectation

After navigating to the CSV File Upload page for a data source, I expect to see a list of all of the datasets for the chosen data source in the leftmost column labeled Datasets. In my case, I should see at least a handful.

Additional details

Here’s the relevant http request, which confirms only a single fileSet was returned in the response. My best guess is that a query behind that endpoint changed to something like ORDER BY createdTimestamp DESC LIMIT 1.
request url: https://datastudio.google.com/u/0/getFileSetsList
request body:

{"fileSetIds":\[\],"fileSetTypes":\[2\],"cmsFilesetId":"UUID"}

response body:

{"fileSets":\[{"fileSetId":"DATASET_UUID","title":"DATASET_TITLE","status":1,"createdTimestamp":{"seconds":"1787569298","nanos":879765000},"lastModifiedTimestamp":{"seconds":"1787569298","nanos":817804000},"type":2}\]}

Great investigation into the /getFileSetsList payload. That definitely looks like an unhandled backend regression where the query is returning only the latest record instead of the full array.

Make sure to submit this on the Looker Studio Issue Tracker so the eng team can track and deploy a fix.

In the meantime, if your report depends on those older datasets being merged, staging the files in Google Drive/Sheets or Cloud Storage is the safest way to avoid losing access to historical data in the UI.
