Credential Setting Error

Hi,

Hi, I’m new to using Looker Studio. I uploaded an Excel file, but I’m unable to create any charts. A message appears saying:

“Credential Setting Error. Credentials Settings are incorrect. An Editor will need to edit and reconnect the data source to resolve this.”

I already checked the credentials and I have owner access.

Thank you for your help!

I too can only land on the Credential error page when making reports. People complaining about the android app seem to have figured out you need the paid Cloud service, which I do not have. It seems like you need to pay to actually use Looker.

Changing data source’s Data credentials from default Owner’s to Viewer’s solved the same issue for me.

Files uploaded this way automatically land in a Google Cloud Storage Bucket e.g. gs://looker-studio-data-import-<identifier> . I wasn’t able to identify PROJECT_ID of that bucket therefore I assume it’s Google-managed bucket → you don’t own it. For a quick analyses it’s acceptable. For long-term, I would suggest to create BigQuery External Table over file I store in my own bucket, Gsheet, etc.

This worked for me – all my Looker reports were suddenly disabled at once, and when I went through each one and made this change, they snapped back.
