Copied App Updates Original App Data

Hi everyone,

I created a copy of my AppSheet app, but when I make changes in one app, the other app also gets updated.

Can someone help me with this? When I made the copy, I left the default options as shown in the screenshot.

Thanks!

That definitely shouldn’t happen.

Could you confirm that the updates you see in both apps refer to data being updated from both apps?

If that’s the case, this happens because the two apps have not been properly disconnected from their data sources.

To fix this, you need to edit the tables in the copied app and set them to point to a new, independent data source, like a separate Google Sheet.

  1. Open the copied app: in the AppSheet editor.
  2. Go to Data in the left-hand menu.
  3. Click on each table that is linked to your original data source.
  4. Click Edit and find the “Source file” or “Source path” setting.
  5. Change this setting to a new, independent file that you have created for this new app, such as a brand new Google Sheet.
  6. Save your changes in each table.
  7. Make sure to save the app.

After these steps, your copied app should no longer be linked to the original data source, and its changes will not affect the original app.

Please let me know if this helps
