Hello, I’m planning to deploy Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS) on a Rocky Linux 9.x server hosted on a GCP virtual machine.
Could anyone please confirm the following: Is Rocky Linux officially supported for GCDS installation and use?
I’ve encountered some issues during setup: I was installed XFCE with XRDP to provide a GUI environment on the Rocky Linux server. The GCDS installer (dirsync-linux64.bin) ran, but the installation GUI window was blank on first launch. Switching to a different Xorg backend (Xvnc) allowed the window to appear, but after setup, the GCDS application does not show up in the system menu. These GUI-related issues seem tied to Java or the graphical environment, but it’s unclear whether they are specific to Rocky Linux or a broader compatibility problem. If anyone can guide on whether Rocky Linux is supported or recommended for GCDS would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Swapnajit
