we have the need to segment the internal Chat capabilities into group audiences so that people cannot chat to the entire organization but just to their group.
Is there a feature request already for this or any idea on how it can be achieved by a combination of controls?
In Google Chat, audience segmentation is controlled through organizational unit (OU) and group-level service settings in the Google Admin console. You can restrict who users can message by going to Apps > Google Workspace > Google Chat > Service settings, then applying different Chat access configurations per OU or access group. While there’s no native feature to create “group-only” chat spaces automatically, you can limit external and internal conversations to specific groups and manage membership via Google Groups. For a formal feature request, you can use the Workspace Admin Help > Contact support > Send feedback option so it’s logged with the product team.
