Hey guys, I could really use some help with this mess.
A client had 2 different GA4 reports in Looker. Since I couldn’t find the most up to date GA4 dimensions in Report A, I asked the client to Reconnect the data source. We had both been getting some errors, but after a while, we’ve managed to reconnect it and retrieve the new dimensions.
Yesterday, the client came to me saying that the other report (Report B) - which was previously using a completely different GA4 property data source - is now, for some unknown reason, using the data source of Report A.
I investigated and he was telling the truth - all charts in Report B were using GA4 data source of Report A (Reusable).
So I went to “Manage added data sources” and removed the incorrect data source, making the charts yield configuration errors (Failed to get data).
Then I attempted to re-add the correct GA4 data source to each GA4 chart. Whilst I was able to do so, the entire chart configuration seems to be lost. I.e. Looker is adding completely random dimensions/metrics instead of the original ones.
Is there anything that I can do to retrieve the original configurations for the charts?
PS: I’ve tried retrieving the configurations from the version history, but even if I restore the previous version, the charts contain the configuration errors so I have to re-add the data source. And when I do so, the previous dimensions/metrics configuration gets lost as explained above (random dimensions and metrics).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
