Charged ₫95 for Compute Engine (e2-micro) despite Free Tier usage

Dear Google Cloud Community,

I was recently charged ₫95 for Compute Engine usage on my Google Cloud billing account, even though I believe I stayed fully within the Free Tier limits.

Here are the details:

  • Billing Account ID: ---

  • Project ID: studio-tqlxe

  • VM type: e2-micro

  • Region: us-west1

  • Boot disk: Standard HDD (30GB)

I created the project recently and only ran a single e2-micro VM that should be covered under the Free Tier (1 f1-micro/e2-micro VM, 30GB HDD, in select regions). I made sure to stay within the limits. However, I still got charged ₫95 VND for June 2025.

The VM has already been deleted, but the charge remains on my billing account. I’d appreciate it if someone could help clarify:

  • Was this charge valid?

  • Did I misconfigure something?

  • Is there any hidden usage (like external IP, snapshot, etc.) that could cause this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,

Nguyen Quang Huy

Hello @ALKAstraverse , Welcome on Googl****e Cloud Community.

First of all, never provide you sensitive information like billing accountID or projectID on public-wide forum like this one. :slightly_smiling_face:
Second of all, did you’ve checked your billing report ? If not, please go to Your projectBillingCost tableFilter by projects ( middle right filters section) → There you will get SKUs and costs related to this particular project.

Once you have this view, you can provide screenshot of SKUs / services used for you project OR check manually which services are not under Free Tier.

If this helped, mark it as a “Accepted Solution”!
