Capitalization in material design

I understand that AppSheet is in the process of trying to improve its compliance with Google’s “material design” standards. In that regard, I’d like to point out a minor issue and ask if it has been considered.

First, here’s the relevant information regarding capitalization:

And here’s what I have in my app:

In the text that I can control myself, I’m trying to follow material design standards but AppSheet’s defaults conflict with it. Has this matter been looked in to? In other words, is this something that hasn’t been noticed or has a decision already been made to keep things like this? Also, it would be nice to be able to control “App Gallery” and other text via the localize feature (see UX menu).

Sir, stay with our local language, then we don t need to worry about if the text is capitalize or not!!

Japanese, right! That is indeed one advantage of using Japanese. Capitalization is not an issue.

@Mike_Moss something to consider

I just noticed that the material design site itself is generally quite consistent about following its own rules, except when it comes to the site title :

Hi @Arthur_Rallu ! Hi @Mike_Moss !

As I have been working on improving my compliance with material design guidelines in my own app, I’ve been somewhat sensitized to capitalization recently. I’m not sure if this is worth pointing out or not, but I just noticed that capitalization on the “My apps” page (and perhaps elsewhere) differs from the guidelines.

This is what the guidelines specify:

But, unless I’m mistaken, this isn’t:

Personally, the “App Gallery” vs. “App gallery” issue is of much more concern than what I am pointing out here (which, I admit, is probably of super low priority). I’m preparing documentation about all facets of my app and would prefer that any screenshots, etc. match the way the app is going to be used in the future. If “App Gallery” is going to be changed to “App gallery” it would be better for me if the change is sooner rather than later. Thanks!

“App Gallery” vs. “App gallery” issue is of much more concern

Sorry to quote myself but I’d like to make one more point about this. Currently, we don’t seem to be able to control the appearance of the “App Gallery” via “localize.” In the past, a few of us have requested that the parameters that can be changed via localization be expanded. If “App Gallery” could be “localized” that would make it possible for creators to adjust capitalization and, importantly, use words from other languages that would be more meaningful to users who are not native speakers.

Hi @Peter_Jambrik you are absolutely right. @Kirk_Masden mentioned this also.

Hi again! The semester has just ended in Japan and I now have a bit more time to work on my app. I’ve been enjoying customizing my menus but have noticed a few minor issues with linguistic customization: We don’t seem to be able to translate some system messages. This is one of many messages, headings, etc. that still cannot be localized. I’m voting for this as a general request for expanded localization: https://community.appsheet.com/t/multilingual-starter-app-w-support-for-106-languages/26866/19 https://community.appsheet.com/t/feature-changing-the-language-in-your-app-localization/15659/7?u=kirk_masden https://community.appsheet.com/t/localize-options/15271?u=kirk_masden https://community.appsheet.com/t/to-localize-the-error-message-when-the-use…
