Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with importing Google Sheets as a data source in Looker Studio. When I try to connect a sheet, I get an error saying that I don’t own or have access to any sheets, which is incorrect. It also doesn’t let me import the Google Sheet with URL/ID.
I’ve already tried the following troubleshooting steps, but none have worked:
- Confirmed that I’m signed into the correct Google account in both Looker Studio and Google Sheets.
- Checked my permissions—I own the sheets and have full access.
- Cleared cache and cookies, and tried a different browser.
- Verified that there are no Google Workspace admin restrictions on my account.
- Checked the Google Workspace Status Dashboard, and no outages are reported.
Despite all this, I still can’t see or select any Google Sheets when trying to add a new data source. Has anyone experienced this issue before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Have you try looking at the list under “Owned by Me”? In you case, jsem vlastnikem? Sometimes all items do not show, but you still can navigate your file with the second option
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, it is not possible to import thru any of the options - even the Owned by Me, or adding thru URL. In all the options it says it is not possible to find any sheets for my account.
Well, there are some issues lately, maybe it’s related, unfortunately I don’t see what could have happened here
Yeah, it is a bit annoying because it is not possible to import data from Google Sheets and Excel, which makes it fairly difficult to work with Looker Studio. Do you have any idea where I can reach out to solve this issue?
You can try to check if it’s a broader issue on the Looker Studio features board, and maybe open a ticket, but apart from that, no more ideas unfortunately
To be said, a lots of bugs have been popping recently, so it might just be a matter of time (annoying, I know… I still can’t rename my sections either)
I am having the same issue. Was this resolved? If so, can you please share the solution?
I just figured out how to do this:
- Upload the files to Google Drive.
- Open Google Sheets.
- Open the files in Google Sheets from Google Drive.
- Once loaded into Google Sheets. Go to File > Save as Google Sheets.
- Open Looker Studio.
- Start your project (In my case it was creating a new report.)
- Use the “Google Sheets” Google Connector.
- The files will now display under the “Owned by me” menu.
