Can google workplace/google drive automatically update PDF invoices

Hi All

I have a client who is having issues with a supplier. There is a dispute regarding an invoice which has a updated business name of the supplier and not the original name.

The supplier has stated that google drive automatically updated the pdf with their new company name.

Is this physically possible for google drive/workspace to automatically update pdf document information?

Anything is possible. However, I doubt that it’s being done. Why would you do that after the PDF was created. If the old name isn’t being used any longer why not replace it prior to the PDF’s creation? Of course, that assumes people are doing things logically which is rarely the case so yeah, maybe that’s exactly what happened lol

No, drive would not automatically update a business name inside a PDF. That kind of change would have to be done manually or through some external process.

Hey,

Hope you’re keeping well.

Google Drive does not automatically modify the contents of uploaded PDF files. PDFs stored in Drive remain exactly as they were uploaded unless a user with edit access opens and edits them manually in a compatible editor (such as Google Docs) or replaces the file. There is no feature in Google Workspace that would automatically change text inside a PDF based on company name changes or metadata updates. If the file shows different content now, it’s most likely due to a manual replacement, an edited version being uploaded, or the PDF being regenerated outside of Drive and re-synced.

Thanks and regards,
Taz
