Blocking Error: "User signin not allowed with the FREE plan" despite being in Prototype mode

Hi AppSheet Community,

I am facing a critical issue that has blocked my development process. I am building a new app for internal use and I am currently in the Prototype phase (Not Deployed) with only myself as a tester.

The Problem: I am receiving the following error message that prevents me from using the app:

My Current Configuration:

  1. Deployment State: Not Deployed (Prototype).

  2. Security: “Require Sign-In” is set to YES (I rely on USEREMAIL() for my app logic).

  3. Account Billing: I am currently on the Free plan.

What I have tried:

  • I checked my account settings, and it seems the system is treating my Free plan as a “Publisher/Public” plan (which forbids sign-in), rather than a “Secure Prototype” plan.

  • When I try to change the plan to “Starter” (to allow sign-ins), it prompts me to enter a Credit Card. I do not want to start a paid subscription yet as I am still in the early development/testing stage.

  • I tried Copying the App to a fresh ID, but the error persists on the new app as well.

My Question: How can I configure my account to allow Signed-in users while remaining in the Free Prototype mode? I need to test user-specific logic without entering credit card details at this stage.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Other than the app showing 2 monthly users, which I understand we are supposed be allowed up to 10 for testing, I don’t see any problem that requires the app deployed and billed.

How long has the app been under development?

This is an issue you will need to contact AppSheet support for!
