Before selecting anything in dropdown list, it shows blank, anyway to show the first item?

Thanks for helping to answer a lot of questions.

Another question is that I am using dropdown list to pick the company from a list, before I select any company, it shows blank, is there any way to show the first item of the list instead of blank?
