Barcode Scanning

Hi,

I want to allow only barcode scanning only on a serial number field for both the mobile and desktop versions

when turning the scan override off this works fine on the mobile app but not on the desktop app.

When using the desktop app it greys out the box but with a scanner attached does not allow the scan. Any way round this ?

With Override turned on can manually enter via desktop

with override turned off can change manually/edit with barcode scanner (usb handheld scanner)

Mobile ok with override turned off as below i can open the barcode scanner and enter a scan

Would this need a different type of laptop barcode scanner to allow the input method to work ??

Any thoughts would be most helpful.

Hi,

Barcode scanning limitations could be the reason for the problem

  • Scanning is only supported when using the app on a mobile device (like your phone or tablet).
  • When you’re using the app in a web browser (like on your desktop), the scan button won’t even show up.

Thanks for sharing the barcode scanning link. Makes sense though i didnt think to look there for the info. I guess there is no way round that then,

Would there maybe a formula i could use to enable override for desktop to allow scan when override is turned off. ?
