I also am havinig this issue. Appsheet should be a part of my google workspace but it keeps prompting me to upgrade. I tried to do it because I just need to keep my team working. I get stuck in a loop everytime i hit upgrade it tells me I already have an account and promts me to follow a link to manage my subscription and that link leads to the page that tells me I need to upgrade and so on and so forth in a loop.

You are absolutely correct when you say that AppSheet Core licenses are included by default for Google Workspace editions. It is necessary that Google Workspace instance must be domain-verified. Please find further details here.
Having said that, if you have any of the listed versions, it is not necessary to purchase another license.
My suggestion is to Contact Technical Support for Google WorkSpace so that they can help you setup your account.
