Following this outage in Russia, AppSheet only works for me via VPN; I paid for AppSheet and invested a huge amount of time and nervous energy into building the app, but if it continues not to work without a VPN, I will find another solution and completely abandon the project with Google.

I’m afraid I do not have good news. I got confirmation from the engineering team that Google AppSheet is technically not allowed or supported for commercial use in Russia.
You are correct that AppSheet currently only works via a VPN inside Russia. Attempting to access the platform directly from a Russian IP address typically results in a connection failure or a block.
