AppSheet Consultation

Hi! I’m building an AppSheet project tracker for an engineering firm and I’m looking to hire an experienced AppSheet consultant for ongoing advisory help as I build the app myself.

What I’m building

  • Project tracker for an engineering firm

  • ~300 projects per year

  • Google Sheets backend (for now)

  • Intermediate complexity app (multiple related tables, workflows, status tracking, etc.)

The kind of help I want

I’m NOT looking for someone to build the whole app for me.
I want someone who can support me with:

  • Architecture and best-practice guidance

  • Expression and slice troubleshooting

  • Automation design and reliability

  • Performance and scaling tips for Sheets + AppSheet

  • Security/filtering strategy (if needed)

Key feature / challenge

A major requirement is an archive/offload process:

  • When a project is marked Completed

  • After 3 months, it should be offloaded to an archive (read-only)

  • Goal: keep the main app fast and keep Sheets/AppSheet usable long-term

Engagement style

  • Hourly consulting

  • Short working sessions (ex: 1–3 hours)

  • As-needed support over the next few weeks/months

  • Screen share + hands-on debugging is ideal

What I’m looking for

Please reply with:

  • Your AppSheet experience (years / example apps)

  • Any experience with archiving strategies / large Apps on Sheets

  • Your pay rate

  • Your availability (time zone + typical times)

Thanks!

Hi @calvinharcum!!

I can help! I provide exactly the kind of Coaching services you are looking for and have done so for a dozen different high volume clients over the past several years.

I have been building apps in AppSheet for over 8 years and nearly 30 years in application development at the enterprise level. In addition to the Coaching services, I have built medium to large scale apps in a number of different industries - manufacturing, plumbing services, crop services, Christian services, distribution, wellness and a few others.

My current project is with a major Dialysis provider. For a sense of business scale, they employ over 150 employees for services in 35+ hospitals across 3 different states. They require highly responsive apps in the field achieved with sophisticated Security Filtering. For the first two years they ran solely on sheets but we have since transitioned to a database.

As for archiving, I have helped implement strategies in a number of methods. In Sheets specifically, the methods I have used are:

  1. Marking records as archived to filter them out
  2. Physical copying of records to a dedicated archival sheet and purging from the source sheet.
  3. Script-based processing to manage the rows between the dedicated archive and source sheets.

My current rate for Coaching services is $80/hr. I do also offer subscription based plans with lower rates depending on number of hours subscribed to.

As an hourly contractor in the East Coast time zone, my hours are very flexible with only a couple of time slots fixed per week for OTHER recurring meetings. We can setup a new recurring timeframe to meet or schedule meeting times ad hoc.

I am confident that I can be of great help to your project, huge time savings and get your project on track with a proper design and archive strategy. If you’d like to reach out to me privately, my domain is (URL Removed by Staff). You can send an email there to JohnBaer at.

I look forward to hearing from you!

I was afraid the domain would get removed. The “trust” factor is bananas but I get it!! Too many bad operators waiting to take advantage! Funny thing is they are starting to figure out ways to use LinkedIn as well!!
