App is taking a lot of time to load

Hi, my users have been reporting a longer time to load the app.

Is there a way to improve this?

Thank you.

Load less data. Use fewer expensive expressions in virtual columns.

Hi Marc,

Thank you.

I find it a bit odd, then what can I do with AppSheet if i dont rely on these expensive expressions in virtual columns? Just a mere database collector? So does it mean I cant really make a “Super App” with AppSheet cause its limited by restrictions like these?

By right, customers or users can do whatever they wish for since they are paying for AppSheet’s services to achieve these aims and objectives.

Apologies for my frustrations, these past few feeks have been nothing but a disappointment in terms of my user journey towards AppSheet. This is mainly because I have put a lot of faith in AppSheet compared to Power Apps.

I just wish I can use AppSheet wihout so much problems, since we are opting for the Enterprise Standard.

Will try my best to improve the speed of the app.

Cheers.

Certainly not.

Appsheet’s intended use is more along the lines of several smaller apps. With that said, I’ve also built some pretty extensive apps while avoiding any slowdowns, just with smart app-building practices.

This is such a ridiculous thing to say. It’s like the “customer is always right” attitude that makes some people think they can order a steak at McDonalds.

Understanding how to build apps with your required functionalities and without slowing them down to a crawl is a huge part of becoming a great Appsheet builder. It deserves as much of your attention as any other part of the app building process.

Hi Finkployd,

You seem to be a bit on the edge if I look at your previous posts in regards to appsheet, As my first No Code platform, believe me, I’ve been there (You can also see it in my many posts)

However, I encourage you to keep learning and experiment, one great way to do this is by thinking of a use case, and using a sample app as a blueprint to “Build on”. You can start by copying the app, and reproducing some behaviors you want. This might help you get an idea has to how you can do what you want to do.

The community of AppSheet developper is really helpful and kind, if you are too you might find unbelievable people that can really help you push your app forward.

As for the limitations of appsheet, they for sure can be jarring, I myself still strugles with offline functionalities. However you will find that there are many ways to circumvent them, the other option is to go back to coding your own app with all the required APIs and I’m certain that if you are here, it’s because you don’t want that !

Keep asking questions, stay positive, it will work in the long run !

Hi, really appreciate this post.

Apologies on my behalf as I conceeded to my own emotions.

Clearly, I love AppSheet since the first day my friend introduced it to me. Been doing this alone in my department as I’m the only person who knows how to do it. So, it can be pretty daunting when things didnt work as its intended after spending a lot of time and most importantly the company’s funds. So you know, boss is not happy.

I will continue to learn and support AppSheet’s development regardless.

Thank you.

I’ve been working with AppSheet extensively since 2016 and still frequently find myself confused and frustrated with it. You are not alone.

Thank you Steve. Will be more supportive of others with an open mind. Thank you!

So far, my team of 30 people are currently using MY app, and have been producing numerous reports automated by AppSheet. It feels really amazing when you’ve improved the workflow of your department, indirectly affecting everyone’s mood and morale in focusing more on the real job, and less mundane paperwork or Excel work for that matter.

Thank you AppSheet.
