apikey verification will fail if remote connection is broken with edgemicro-oauth?

We are defining the edgemicro gateway; if remote connection like “https://docs-test.apigee.net/edgemicro-auth/verifyApiKey” is broken or connection refused, the apikey verification will all fail? We understand there is a cache for the token, how long edgemicro auth keeps the cache live?

The apikey will cached for ~1 second less than the JWT’s expiry.

The call to /edgemicro-auth/verifyApiKey returns a JWT response.
