when i update the app definition, it always prompts there are a newer version, i need to refresh the app editor page. i have to reapply my change twice, 3 times or even 4. why appsheet always creates a new version faster than me?
Make sure only one person is ever editing the app at a time, and make sure you have the app open in the editor only once.
When you open an app in the app editor, the server notes that you are editing it. and remembers it until you close the editor. If anyone else (yourself included) opens the app (again) in the app editor, the server sees the new session and will block your earlier session!
For this reason, AppSheet is not a good platform for collaborative development: it’s very easy to interfere with someone else’s work.
Thanks Steve for your reply.
I keep only one editor tab after once i caught the error. However, the issue keep happening. I also checked the version history of my apps, there are a consistency check every 30 seconds to a minute. This consistency check will update the version number and when the version number of my version is not the latest when i save, the portal blocks me from saving my changes. for a large change, i may have to re-apply the same changes 7-8 times before succeeded.
This experience is bad and annoying and i hope AppSheet can review this consistency check, whether this is due to a stupid logic or typo or something else.
Those frequent consistency checks are not normal, and I would not expect something on AppSheet’s end to be driving them. Are you using any tools or services other than the app editor itself to interact with your app configuration? Monitoring tools? Automatic backups? A browser extension? Have you checked your computer for viruses and malware recently? Is your computer fully up-to-date?
Steve,
Monitoring tools, does this include the one within AppSheet editor page? If not, no.
And at the time update the app setting, I was using corporate PC that should have anti-virus tools for checking malware and virus infection. It should not have related situation.
My best guess is something is wrong on AppSheet’s end, then. You’ll need to engage Support and hope whomever you work with is willing to acknowledge this is a problem. Perhaps @Jose_Arteaga can help the process?
Thanks @Steve,
I did a small research on this and I found this post where other app creators were having the same issue. In a nutshell they suggested the following possible causes:
- Duplicate tabs: Close any other open tabs where you might also be editing this same application.
- Restore previous version: Go to version history in your app manager if your recent changes were overwritten and you need to roll back.
- Returning the program into a prototype mode and then deployed it again: This actually helped the user to identify other errors in the app and fix them
Let me know if this helps please.
It seems no use…the same situation happens after midnight hk time…but it was fine in yesterday afternoon (also hk time)
I understand. I’m afraid at this point the best course of action is to Contact the Support team, please follow the steps below:

Go to Appsheet help
