I think AppSheet as a product has a very dim future unless users can use AI to build the apps more effectively.
The next most reasonable evolution step I think is for users to be able to download the AppSheet app’s full definition, modify it, and re-upload it and maybe have it done through API. AI can do such edits quite effectively.
It seems very simple to implement. I’ll take care of the definition editing part myself. Just let me upload the definition so that app rebuilds itself according to it and lets me know what the errors are if any.
If something like that was already addressed and if there’s a solution for this, please let me know!
The AppSheet is a very nice product that allows me to focus on business logic and not worry about deployments, security, dependencies. But manual editing has to go. It slows me down a lot.
Just standardize app definition into JSON or YAML, and let me upload it to update the app.

We all have different entry points with appsheet and it is called different things depending on where we get in. Local/personal in your Gmail app dash, functionally your tabular GUI data sheet. Enterprise workspace… I can’t say, I don’t have access. On the Dev side, I can say I have it as a data storage backend for an app through a server less server. Granted, annoying for config, but once settled it works as it should.
Sheets isn’t in death rattles. Wanting deeper integration is a different request. I’m surprised you’re not finding that with aistudio and gemini in personal GUI spaces, or antigravity cli otherwise.
I’ve found it overkill of late and act accordingly. To each their I think is the message.

I don’t just want deeper integration. I want to be able to scale my work multiple times using AI, there is a clear and obvious pathway to achieve that and it is agnostic of how you use the app.
AI studio is not a replacement, I find, if you are trying to build a multiplatform secure enterprise software. Home made prototypes are fine, but once you need to scale and satisfy entire company it becomes a huge sum of work.
I get where you’re coming from. Currently, we only have ‘Build with Gemini,’ but once the app is already built, you can no longer use prompts.
