Hello,

I am the Owner and Storage Admin for my website backups.

Can someone please explain to me, like I’m in first grade, how I can access my backups without getting this error message: “Additional permissions required to view this object’s metadata: Ask an object owner to grant you ‘storage.objects.get’ permission?”

I was able to access and download them myself in April.

Hello @missgpysea ,Welcome on Google Cloud Community.

Please add to you either one of following IAM role:

  • Storage Object Viewer (roles/storage.objectViewer)
  • Storage Object User (roles/storage.objectUser)
  • Storage Legacy Object Reader (roles/storage.legacyObjectReader)
    *Storage Legacy Object Owner (roles/storage.legacyObjectOwner)

Once done, you should be able to get object’s metadata. Basically with Storage Admin, you should be able to read metadata :thinking:
