A Google Meet feature request to restrict external users (who are not in Google), using other alias names when joining a meeting which is open to anyone with the link, comparing it to security features in Zoom that require email identification.
Hey,
Hope you’re keeping well.
Google Meet currently identifies external participants in open link meetings only by the display name they enter, and does not enforce email verification unless they join with a Google account. To achieve behavior similar to Zoom’s authenticated join, you can require sign‑in for all participants by enabling “Only people invited” or “Only users in your organization” in the Meet host controls or via Google Admin Console under Apps > Google Workspace > Google Meet > Meet safety settings. For external collaborators, consider using Calendar invitations with their Google account emails to ensure verified identity before joining.
Thanks and regards,
Taz
