Action "external:start an email" - using a template

Hi,

From the action “external:start an email” I would like to open the email program(like outlook) with opening the mail editor with a specific template(our company template).

I know with the automation tasks it works perfectly with html/doc templates. But I don’t get it work with the email action.

Anybody knows how? Thank you in advance.

  • This is actually a really good idea for a feature request:

Instead of SENDING an email (with a template and all that jazz)…
Start a DRAFT of an email (with a template and all that jazz)

  • This way I can fill in the rest of the email and send it out myself

I’m with you that it’s a good idea, although “a template” is just too much, since we use a lot of different types of email clients with very different support across the board.

I think our best bet would be to use the mailto: uri or actually use the “External: start an email” body, it’s already enough IMHO

In case a rich html message is required, the body is very limited since it doesn’t accept HTML markup.

I quess, this functionality makes use of the mailto:uri standard, so that creates probably these limitations.

Yes, and, as I said, there are so many email clients that it is not easy to provide such feature without hassels
